Described as “a thoughtful drama with the taut energy of a thriller”, TENNESSINE tells the story of Arash (played by Sami) who, against his family’s wishes, arrives in Australia to reunite with the love of his life, the elusive Nazanin (Faezeh Alavi). While the couple spends a romantic weekend in a cabin in the woods, the arrival of Nazanin’s supervisor, Nasser (Robert Rabiah), leads Arash to a chain of self-destructive events. Set against the backdrop of the desolate Australian wilderness, TENNESSINE is a psychological drama portraying the effects of displacement, belonging and love.
TENNESSINE had its world premiere at Sydney Film Festival in 2023, and was described by The Latch as one of “5 must-see Australian films” at the festival.
Nominated for Best Direction at the 2023 Australian Directors’ Guild (ADG) Awards.
TENNESSINE releases in theatres nationally on April 8th, with Director Amin Palangi and Osamah Sami embarking on a Q&A tour across NSW, ACT, VIC and QLD.
