Backed by Rialto Distribution and Global Constellation, with U.S. distribution through Samuel Goldwyn Films
After a sold-out world premiere at the Adelaide Film Festival and an in-competition screening at the Gold Coast Film Festival, South Australian action thriller The Run arrives in cinemas across Australia from May 14, distributed locally by Rialto Distribution.
Produced in South Australia with the support of the South Australian Film Corporation, The Run has already attracted significant global attention after presenting at the prestigious Cannes Marché du Film as part of the Adelaide Film Festival Goes to Cannes initiative.
Worldwide sales are being handled by Global Constellation, with Samuel Goldwyn Films securing U.S. distribution for release later this year. Following its theatrical run, the film will also be available across major digital platforms.
For fans of Children of Men, Logan, and The Last of Us, The Run delivers exactly the kind of morally complex, high-intensity genre cinema that Australian film is increasingly leading with, built on cryptic characters, ethical ambiguity, and the kind of relentless tension that stays with you long after the credits roll.
Starring Callan Mulvey, Charlotte Maggi, and Felix Cameron, the film features a rising ensemble cast. Charlotte Maggi continues her breakout trajectory, having recently been cast in A24’s highly anticipated Talk to Me series, further cementing her as one of Australia’s most exciting emerging talents.
Directed by South Australian Stephen de Villiers and filmed and produced entirely in South Australia, The Run is a testament to the strength of the state’s screen industry and the growing global appetite for premium Australian storytelling.
Chloe Gardner, Producer, said: “We set out to create a film that delivers both adrenaline and emotional stakes, and seeing it now reach audiences across Australia, and soon the U.S., is incredibly rewarding. This is exactly the kind of bold, commercial storytelling we believe Australian films can lead with.”
Kelly Rogers, CEO of Rialto Distribution, said: “The Run is a compelling, edge-of-your-seat thriller with strong performances and real audience appeal. We’re proud to be releasing it across Australia and giving audiences the chance to experience it on the big screen where it belongs.”
Fabien Westerhoff, CEO of Global Constellation, said: “From the outset, The Run stood out as a highly marketable and engaging film with strong international potential. We’re thrilled to be representing it globally and building momentum across key territories.”
Special Q&A Screening — Meet the Cast
To celebrate the theatrical release, audiences are invited to a special Q&A screening at Wallis Cinemas – Noarlunga on Sunday, May 17, featuring SA cast members Tim Phillips, Joe Romeo, and Taylor Wiese, along with Producer Chloe Gardner, who will share behind-the-scenes insights into the film’s making. Tickets are expected to sell quickly, and
audiences are encouraged to book early.
