Impact Crew, founded by Oscar-winning duo Ron Howard and Brian Grazer with CEO Tyler Mitchell to transform film and television production through innovative technology, is set to expand in Australia to meet the needs of this country’s booming screen production industry.

“We are making Australia our focus for the year. This decision is driven by the country’s robust entertainment industry and openness to innovative tools,” says Impact Crew Co-Founder and CEO, Tyler Mitchell.

Howard and Glazer are no strangers to Australia’s production capabilities, having made EDEN and THIRTEEN LIVES here. EDEN and two other major productions in Australia have already utilised Impact Crew.

Impact Crew’s first priority is to optimise the way productions assemble and hire the incredible crew who bring stories to life. “The film and TV industry hinges on assembling large teams with specialised skills to create content, but hiring remains one of its biggest inefficiencies,” says Tyler Mitchell. “Our platform simplifies and accelerates the way productions hire crew, making it easier to bring projects to life and unlock more opportunities for industry professionals.”

Impact Crew has a specialised search engine that can filter its global crew network, including over 17,000 profiles of Australian crew – to quickly pinpoint the best candidates for the job and immediately identify their availability, while also offering crew a platform to showcase their credentials and network online, rather than relying on solely personal connections and word of mouth.

Impact Crew’s AvailCheck tool simplifies the hiring process, making it quicker and easier to crew up. It’s widely used by producers and studios internationally. The company will soon launch its new AvailCheck AI Search Tool which is designed to further speed up the hiring process by identifying crew members with their skill sets and availability, connecting producers, studios, and crew worldwide.

In addition to revolutionizing crew hiring, Impact Crew is dedicated to enhancing efficiency and saving time for productions through streamlined communication. Effective communication within a production is critical, given the complexities of coordinating numerous individuals and vendors to avoid costly delays.

CrewChat, a cornerstone feature of Impact Crew, debuted in January and successfully supported Ron Howard’s EDEN during filming in Queensland. This integrated communication tool replaces outdated methods like email and SMS, offering digitized crew lists, 1:1 and group messaging capabilities, real-time set updates, and seamless file distribution.

“We saw an opportunity to integrate production communication within our platform by digitizing crew lists and creating a unified tool for messages and files,” Tyler explains. “Through close collaboration with the EDEN team and ongoing feedback from active productions, we are continuously enhancing CrewChat, shipping new features weekly.”

CrewChat’s success on EDEN has prompted its adoption across multiple productions in Australia, significantly transforming how production teams communicate and share critical information.

“We’ve received overwhelmingly positive feedback from production companies adopting Impact Crew technologies,” Mitchell adds. “CrewChat fundamentally changes production communication dynamics, ensuring accurate and timely information flow, crucial in the fast-paced world of film and television production.”
