Sydney/LA-based filmmaker Chloe Louise Taylor has been selected for the Melbourne Documentary Film Festival (MDFF) with her debut documentary short REUNION, screening as part of the Shorts Program at Cinema Nova on July 11, followed by a Q&A.
REUNION begins with a mystery: after only ten people showed up to a ten-year reunion from a Sydney all-girls Catholic school, Taylor set out to interview former classmates to ask why. What emerged were intimate one-on-one conversations about identity, social comparison, and the gap between curated online selves and lived reality — played out against the particular backdrop of growing up with social media as the measure of everyone else’s life.
REUNION marks Taylor’s directorial debut. She is also in early development on a feature documentary (IF/THEN) with Screen Australia and Shark Island Foundation support.
