PREPARATIONS TO BE TOGETHER FOR AN UNKNOWN PERIOD OF TIME was one of the fastest-selling tickets at the Melbourne International Film Festival in August 2020. Melbourne cinema goers will have the opportunity to see the film on the big screen at the Sun Theatre and Cinema Nova from Thursday 24 February, 2022.
Written and directed by Hungarian award-winning filmmaker Lili Horvát (The Wednesday Child), PREPARATIONS TO BE TOGETHER FOR AN UNKNOWN PERIOD OF TIME takes love and reality under the scalpel in a story about obsession on the streets of Budapest.
Spontaneously quitting her lucrative job in the United States, Hungarian neurosurgeon Márta (Natasa Stork) travels back to her homeland to rendezvous with a doctor (Viktor Bodó) she fell in love with at a convention. When he fails to show up for their appointed meeting – and, upon being tracked down, claims to have never met her – she begins to doubt her own sanity, opting to trace his movements to work out whether she has been spurned and gaslighted or, instead, simply dreamed up an idealised encounter.
Writer and director Lili Horvát describes Márta as a strong, dauntless, but also fragile character that audiences will connect with.
“This woman goes blindly yet determined toward something–even in the moments of greatest doubt, the strength of intuition shines in her. While sometimes her character is on the brink of madness, everyone who has ever waited in vain on a date, or who has projected something into their love, can feel what she feels.”
PREPARATIONS TO BE TOGETHER FOR AN UNKNOWN PERIOD OF TIME premiered at the 2020 Venice Film Festival and has won thirteen Awards internationally.
‘PREPARATIONS TO BE TOGETHER FOR AN UNKNOWN PERIOD OF TIME’ WILL SCREEN AT THE SUN THEATRE & CINEMA NOVA FROM THURSDAY 24 FEBRUARY!
