Palace Cinemas is proud to announce it will be saving the historic Regent Cinema in Ballarat from closure, ensuring the doors of this cherished landmark will reopen from Thursday October 3. Renamed Palace Regent Ballarat, the cinema will continue to celebrate its blockbuster films beloved by locals while introducing Palace Cinemas’ renowned international film festivals and quality upmarket films.
The Regent Ballarat screened its first film in 1928. Almost 100 years later, on Monday, 24 June this year, it closed unexpectedly, devastating the local community profoundly. Despite having endured everything from fires, floods, and several years of closure in the seventies, the venue will once again open its doors to welcome the community of Ballarat.
“The Regent Cinema is a cherished community icon, and its avid audience perfectly aligns with our passion for sharing great cinema experiences. We are thrilled to bring the Palace touch to this iconic venue while ensuring we save and loyally serve what locals love about it most,” shared Benjamin Zeccola, CEO of Palace Cinemas.
“Palace Regent Ballarat will not only preserve a treasured piece of Ballarat’s history but will also elevate the local cinema experience,” Zeccola added. “We look forward to showcasing an even wider selection of films and delivering the best in cinema to the film enthusiasts of Ballarat.”
Palace Regent Ballarat will exhibit Palace’s signature offerings, including their award-winning olive oil popcorn, gourmet Connoisseur choc tops, and a curated wine list with famously generous pour sizes.
Alongside showcasing popular blockbuster and family films, Palace Regent Ballarat will host Palace Cinemas’ prestigious film festivals, kicking off with the British Film Festival in November. The cinema will also offer an exciting lineup of quality films, aligning with Palace’s reputation for delivering the best cinema experiences.
Palace Regent Ballarat will offer an extensive selection of special events and sessions including Student Saver Days, Senior Saver Days, Babes in Arms, Family Film Passes, discount sessions for Movie Club members, and special-event previews and premieres, in line with other Palace Cinema locations nationwide.
To mark this exciting new chapter, Palace Regent Ballarat will introduce the exclusive Ballarat Movie Club, offering premium and free membership tiers. Members will enjoy $15 movie tickets for all standard sessions, ensuring everyone can indulge in rich cinematic experiences, along with a substantial discount on the cinema’s standard ticket prices.
Palace Cinemas warmly invites former Regent Cinema staff to explore exciting new opportunities at Palace Regent Ballarat. While the venue’s reopening will require building a team from the ground up, we deeply value the passion and experience of former employees. Applications are now open at palacecinemas.com.au/careers.
