Hollywood-based Australian comic screenwriter and TikTok celeb Vanessa Every-Burns has optioned her original screenplay, “MARRY ME,” to Director/Producer Louise Alston (BACK OF THE NET –Disney, THREE DATES TO FOREVER – Peacock).
MARRYING ME is the story of a struggling bachelor who concocts a scheme to marry himself in a bid to escape financial woes. But after taking on the teachings of a self-love guru, he meets the girl of his dreams. Will he cheat on himself?
“This story is inspired by both my own experiences of perpetual singledom and the real-life trend of self-marriage. I love telling stories where the protagonist is at bottom, also relatable and cringeworthy,” says writer Vanessa Every-Burns
Vanessa and Louise are inspired by movies like Bridesmaids, Forgetting Marshall, and 40 Year Old Virgin.
Louise Alston has already reached out to and secured the interest of Matty Cardaropole, known for his roles in “STRANGER THINGS”, “JURASSIC WORLD”, and “FREE GUY”.
“Matty’s dry humour and acting depth will bring value and layers to this out of luck bachelor. I love Matt’s style,” says Louise.
Louise first noticed Vanessa on her sketch comedy TikTok channel, with 76K followers. Vanessa is based in Los Angeles where she performs stand up and writes. Vanessa has optioned tv pilots and other screenplays and she is currently in development with these projects.
This collaboration was facilitated by Louise Alston’s manager, Sean Dubravac, at Entertainment Lab LA, and Vanessa’s Manager Jon Brown at Ensemble Entertainment.
