Chrysaor Studios open Queensland’s only permanent open-access virtual production studio to the screen industry
A free Gold Coast Virtual Production Showcase on Friday 3 July puts a live, real-time Unreal Engine 5 demonstration powered by Animax LED volume
Chrysaor Studios will open the doors of its Varsity Lakes facility on Friday 3 July 2026 for the Gold Coast Virtual Production Showcase, a free industry event built around a live demonstration of Queensland’s only permanent open-access virtual production stage.
The afternoon brings the Gold Coast and Brisbane screen community together in one room; including, content creators, producers, art directors, students and established filmmakers, all invited to see the studios in action and meet the team who run it.
At the centre of the showcase is an interactive virtual production demonstration on the Animax LED volume. Real-time virtual environments built in Unreal Engine 5 will run on the stage, including a virtual travel and simulation sequence created live, with guests given hands-on access to the volume and crew operating it.
The permanently installed Unilumin LED volume features up to 49.5 m² screen and real-time Unreal Engine 5 rendering, operated by on-site partner Animax Studios. It delivers Hollywood-quality in-camera visual effects with no setup or transport time, so productions can shoot from day one. The interactive demonstration is delivered together with technical partners Animax Studios, TLD and Proxi Vision. With a welcome cocktail provided by Wildflower Gin Distillery.
Chrysaor Studios is Australia’s first Social Traders certified social enterprise film studio. Its commercial work funds local jobs, training and pathways into the screen industry.
