Following its World Premiere at the Fantasia International Film Festival in Montreal last month, CORPUS, a genre-bending erotic body horror from rising filmmaker Corrin Evans will receive its Australian premiere at the Melbourne International Film Festival on 13 August. Australian actor Brodie Townsend will attend the festival with Lily Cowles, CORPUS’ co-writer and producer and director and co-writer Corrin Evans.
Written by Corrin Evans and Lily Cowles, CORPUS stars Jeff Wahlberg (Euphoria), Brodie Townsend (Heartbreak High), Michael Vlamis (Pools), Lily Cowles (Antebellum), Nuha Jes Izman (Yellowjackets) and Ching Valdes-Aran (The Equalizer).
The film follows Sayo, a soulful nightlife photographer and small-time drug dealer in the summer of 1998 in New York City. When he’s invited to a party upstate by Vince (Townsend), his long-time friend, unrequited love, and a movie star on the rise, they — together with their rowdy friend Ross — drive to a remote, bucolic manor in hopes of some summer debauchery. Upon arrival, they discover that the promise of a party is actually three mysterious women — Billie, Wren, and Cata — whose disturbing agenda draws the boys into a dark web of seduction and terror.
CORPUS is the feature directorial debut of Corrin Evans, whose interest in exploring eroticism onscreen led her to become an in-demand intimacy coordinator, known for her work on Ti West’s MaXXXine and Larry Charles’s Dicks: The Musical.
The film is produced by Cowles, marking the first feature from her new production company, Dip Dip Dive, Evans, Alix Taylor (Maniac), Sarah Mather of Pinky Promise Films (Wishful Thinking) and Thomas Wallis of Two Canz Films (Before I Do). Yellow Veil Pictures are managing world sales.
