BritBox unveils a refreshed platform with an expanded content catalogue, three new channels and more exclusive British content for Australian viewers
BritBox Australia today announces a major evolution of its service, designed to deliver more value, more choice, and more of the British content Australians can’t get enough of.
Almost five years since launching in Australia, this next phase of BritBox includes a significantly expanded content offering and the introduction of three new exclusive expertly curated linear channels.
With hundreds of hours of new content now available on BritBox, and more premieres added each month, subscribers gain access to more British drama and comedy content than ever before. Being added to the line-up are new exclusive series Agatha Christie’s Towards Zero, Outrageous, Fear and Death Valley alongside the latest seasons of hugely popular returning series Shetland and The Bay, which join award-winning period drama Call the Midwife, and smash-hit detective series Death in Paradise and Silent Witness. Also returning this year, exclusive series The Cleaner, Professor T and Karen Pirie, meaning even more will be available exclusively on BritBox.
“This exciting new chapter for BritBox Australia features an expanded slate of exclusive UK shows and genre collections advancing our objective to be the best curators of British television, offering our customers more thoughtfully organised collections. We’re making it even easier to discover the best of British entertainment united by the same values of quality, authenticity, emotion and depth,” said Moira Hogan, Executive Vice President of International Markets and General Manager of BritBox Australia.
As part of the platform refresh, BritBox has evolved its user experience to make it easier to find and watch content. It now offers three new expertly programmed channels giving customers the option to switch between watching a show on a streamed channel or watch on-demand. BritBox is improving viewing quality and has increased download limit, so subscribers can enjoy the best of British television anytime, anywhere.
“Our customers told us they wanted more — more of the latest series, more quality dramas, comedies and mysteries, as well as more variety across genres. We’ve expanded the service with the aim of continuing to delight our existing fans and appeal to new customers. Our team has crafted a user experience that combines the best of on-demand viewing with a curated channel experience. So when you’re not sure what to watch, you can easily switch to one of our three streaming channels and the choice is instantly made for you,” said Hogan.
New and Exclusive Premium Content June marks the first blockbuster month of BritBox’s expanded platform. It all starts with the highly anticipated premiere of Shetland Season 9, returning with an alarming new missing person case. Also premiering is Agatha Christie’s Towards Zero, a gripping Agatha Christie adaptation that has received huge acclaim overseas, starring Angelica Huston and Matthew Rhys, produced by Mammoth Screen Productions. The cult-favourite comedy Mandy from Cunk on Earth’s Diane Morgan will be available to stream in June, and for those craving breathtaking visuals and world-class storytelling, Blue Planet, The Hunt and The Planets are just a few of the awe-inspiring new documentaries added. This is just the beginning – BritBox is leveling up, and the new chapter starts now.
“Audiences are seeking quality storytelling, world-class production, and authentic characters. Shows that can take viewers on a journey, perhaps provide an escape, start a conversation or change of perspective – that’s what we constantly strive to deliver here at BritBox,” said Hogan.
