The new Irish office strengthens LAPC’s ability to deliver international productions at speed and scale with the capability to operate a 24-hour global workflow while cementing its reputation as a key independent player in the $30m–$40m feature film market.
The first project for the company’s tech team will be for the upcoming Bluey Movie, where LAPC is providing Managed IT and Pipeline Services to Cosmic Dino Studios.
Like a Photon Creative’s Co-CEOs, Kristen Souvlis and Nadine Bates said: “Ireland has an incredible history of animation excellence. By establishing a base there, we can expand our talent pool, strengthen international collaborations, and provide around-the-clock creative and technical services without overextending our Australian team.”
Founded in 2015 by Kristen Souvlis and Nadine Bates, LAPC has spent the past decade building a world-class studio that produces original and family-focused animated films in partnership with global brands including Crayola, Macmillan and HarperCollins.
To date, the company has delivered over $64 million in production investment in Australia, created more than 900 jobs for local creatives, and built a theatrical pipeline of both original and IP-based films including The Wishmas Tree, Combat Wombat, The Sloth Lane, The Lost Tiger, ScaryGirl and many more.
LAPC has recently also partnered with Jason Behan at Summer Star Creative to form Apocalypso, a forward-thinking media monetisation and distribution service designed to equip producers with the tools and strategies they need to navigate the evolving global content landscape and secure long-term commercial success.
Kristen Souvlis and Nadine Bates said: “Like A Photon Creative produces world class content for distribution globally, so it was the next step for us in our evolution to take back some control with how our product makes it into the world.
We’re so excited to be working with Jason Behan to build Apocalypso to be a voice in the room for producers. Together we are lending our expertise to content of all formats, including scripted and non scripted, television and feature films.”
This all comes off the back of a bumper month for the team which saw Kristen Souvlis and Nadine Bates receive the Australian Women’s Film Festival ‘Groundbreaker Award’ as well as being named Finalists in the QLD Lord Mayors Business Awards for ‘Outstanding Small Business’. Both will also share their success story and insights later this week for an In Conversation event at the Queensland Art Gallery of Modern Art at 1pm on Saturday 28th.
