The Screen Well Awards 2023 recognise wellbeing initiatives and innovations in the screen industry, with categories for individuals, organisations and productions.

Screen Well co-founder Ben Steel said the awards are a positive way to celebrate the work that is being done to improve mental health outcomes across the screen industry.

“We know through our work and the countless conversations we are having, how much growth there has been in the mental health and wellbeing space in just a few years,” Steel said. “Even though we’ve still got a way to go to get the industry where it needs to be.”

“The Screen Well Awards are a way to officially recognise the individuals, organisations and productions that are leading these changes, and to inspire others in the industry to consider driving further wellbeing improvements in their workplaces.”

Until now, there were no widespread screen industry awards in Australia that addressed wellbeing and mental health. Steel said, “This is an opportunity for Screen Well to use our voice and platform to create more visibility of the work that’s being done and the positive impact it’s having on people our sector. These awards give our screen colleagues an opportunity to let others know about their efforts in the wellbeing space.”

The award recipients will be provided with Screen Well Awards 2023 digital badges they can use for marketing and other communications.

It’s free to enter, with 3 different award categories: Organisation or Production of the Year, Wellbeing Innovation or Initiative of the Year, and Wellbeing Advocate of the Year.

“We encourage all organisations, institutions, productions, and individuals that are championing wellbeing efforts, and have introduced wellbeing improvements and/or advocated and driven change in their screen workplaces since the start of 2022 to consider entering the awards,” Steel said.

Submissions and full details of the awards are available on the Screen Well website at https://www.screenwell.com.au/awards and applications close at 11:59pm on 10 September 2023.
