Australia’s national screen and broadcast school is bringing its world-class storytelling skills to Wollongong business owners for the first time next month.

The one-day in-person Storytelling for Business Course, which has been successfully running at the Australian Film Radio and Television School (AFTRS) in Sydney and online, will be delivered by Wollongong-based producer, writer and director Nick Bolton – an AFTRS trainer who also runs his own production company.

Nick says the course will help people in the local community benefit from AFTRS’ expertise in delivering industry-relevant training, showing business owners how to apply filmmaking creative techniques to their business communication.

“This course is for anyone in business who has a story to tell, or a message to get across to their audience, but needs some assistance on how to do it in an engaging way that resonates with customers and clients, and results in better business success,” he said.

“Just as filmmakers use specific techniques to capture their audience’s attention, this course will show you how to apply these approaches to your key messages, and discover the power of storytelling to capture your audience’s attention to make these message stick in a compelling and memorable way.”

Nick draws on his vast experience to use practical exercises that help people apply creative communications skills directly to their specific business message, helping them connect with their audience on an emotional level.

Storytelling for Business will run on Friday 28 March at the UOW Innovation Campus from 9.30am to 4.30pm. AFTRS is now offering an introductory 20% off the full course price. For more information see: AFTRS Storytelling for Business
