Fresh off her career revival in The Last Showgirl, Pamela Anderson has been cast in Kornél Mundruczó’s Place to Be, currently filming in Sydney.
“I really love Pamela – she’s such a versatile actress and her most recent performance in The Last Showgirl was unbelievable,” said Mundruczó (Pieces of a Woman) in a statement. “She showed such bravery and I’m tremendously excited to work with her.”
Anderson joins Ellen Burstyn and Taika Waititi in the cast of the previously announced Place to Be, a drama written by Mundruczó’s partner, Kata Wéber about ‘ no-nonsense Brooke [Burstyn] and discombobulated divorcee Nelson [Waititi] as they travel from Chicago to New York to return a lost racing pigeon home.’
She will Brooke’s daughter Molly, into her second marriage and anxious about moving her elderly mother into a retirement home.
Place to Be is independently produced by Australia-based Jomon Thomas (Monkey Man, Hotel Mumbai) and Megan Wynn (Poker Face), along with Alexander Rodnyansky (Beanpole).
Pamela Anderson will next be seen in the Naked Gun reboot, as well as Karim Aïnouz’s Rosebush Pruning with Riley Keough, Callum Turner, Elle Fanning Jamie Bell, Lucas Gage and Tracy Letts.
