We sincerely want Justice League to be good. Historically, the DC cinematic stable has been on a bit of a dud run ever since Nolan’s Batman hung up his underoos, but we live in hope – these are iconic characters that really deserve a good cinematic showing. Nobody really wants a bad Superman or Batman flick – there are no haters, despite what some corners of the internet might have you believe.
This weekend we’re getting a new trailer for Zack Snyder’s final DC at-bat, which will give us an idea of which way the wind is blowing. Many have laid the blame for the current state of the DCEU at Snyder’s feet, and while that’s fair, he’s still a gifted visual stylist with a deep love for this universe (although love does not necessarily equate to understanding). Hopefully he can finish up his tenure on a high note.
In the meantime we’re getting teasers to the trailer of the film, as is customary in this age of marketing saturation. here are the first couple, a scant few seconds of Ben Affleck’s Batman and Jason Momoa’s Aquaman looking all badass.
What do you think? We feeling it? That business with the trident was pretty cool – I’m betting we get to see at least one Parademon get skewered by that thing in the actual film. That’s be worth an extra half a star right there.
Justice League is in Australian theatres from November 16, 2017.
