Today’s social media like Facebook and Instagram show how our favourite celebrities and movie stars enjoy the life that they have, but it’s rare that you see how else they spend or invest their money aside from their extravagant houses and vacations.
There is something that we don’t see a lot from the social media accounts of these celebrities and it has to do with gambling. Now, some celebrities simply do this for fun, but others would also donate their winnings to charities. There are actually many big Hollywood celebrities that enjoy playing casino games.
Ben Affleck
Think of Batman playing poker and what’s even better is that he’s really good at it. Award-winning actor Ben Affleck is simply one of the smartest poker players out there. Affleck allegedly also enjoys playing blackjack against live dealers. It is also reported that he wagers on sports from time to time.
In 2001, Affleck did go to rehab for gambling addiction. It was reported that he lost hundreds of thousands of dollars playing poker and it eventually became a problem. He may still gamble now, and there has been a rumour that he and Matt Damon bagged almost a million dollars at some casino.
Matt Damon
Indeed, Matt Damon is another one of these movie stars who enjoy playing casino games. There isn’t much out there about how often Damon takes part in gambling activities, but it’s noteworthy that he spent a lot of time and money gambling to prepare for one of his roles in a movie called Rounders that is about high-stakes poker. There are also reports that he and Affleck play casino games together from time to time.
Tobey Maguire
It seems like our favourite superhero movie actors are just really into gambling. Spider-Man star Tobey Maguire has been reported to come a cropper once for participating in an illegal gambling ring. This may be because he enjoys high-stakes poker games with other Hollywood stars. Currently, it’s unknown whether he still gambles or not.
Leonardo DiCaprio
Titanic and Inception star Leonardo DiCaprio is one of those Hollywood stars who are big fans of poker. In fact, this is really Leo’s cup of tea. It’s his favourite game of all time, but it’s also a known fact that he doesn’t seem to frequent registered casinos. It seems like Leo prefers attending bootleg casinos as he was once detained because of it – and that casino ad with Robert De Niro directed by Martin Scorsese…
George Clooney
Kind of like Matt Damon, Clooney started gambling after his popular movie Ocean’s Eleven. The scenes from the movie got Clooney really curious about gambling, and after the film he stepped into a casino using his own money. In 2005, Clooney invested in the construction of a casino in Las Vegas. The Las Ramblas Resort is owned by Clooney and nightclub developer Rande Gerber. It’s one of the luxurious casinos in Vegas and is famous for high-stake rollers.
Pamela Anderson
Pamela Anderson is also known for playing a lot of poker. She would also place bets that are over a hundred thousand dollars. In fact, in 2007, her gambling hobby made the news as it was reported that she lost 250,000 US dollars playing poker. Rumour has it that her marriage with Rick Salomon only happened because she lost a bet against him and can’t pay her debts.
Jennifer Tilly
American and Canadian actress Jennifer Tilly is not only famous for her roles in TV shows and movies like Hill Street Blues, Fabulous Baker Boys, and Bullets Over Broadway. She is one of the best poker players out there. In fact, Tilly takes her poker skills seriously as she has won the Poker World Series several times.
Bruce Willis
Die Hard, The Sixth Sense, The Fifth Element, and so on. Famous action movie star Bruce Willis is also a hit when it comes to the gambling industry. Apparently, Willis is also a great poker player and it was once reported that he won half a million dollars in an Atlantic City casino playing Baccarat.
