Real life lovers Michael Fassbender and Alicia Vikander star in The Light Between Oceans, Derek Cianfrance’s adaptation of ML Stedman’s acclaimed novel. The story sees Fassbender’s WWI vet take up a post as lighthouse keeper on the remote Western Australian coast, taking his wife (Vikander) with him. Their isolation is broken by the appearance of a boat containing a dead boy and a live baby, one of which they keep. Jack Thompson and Bryan Brown pull support duties, while Rachel Weisz features as woman whose lives the pair inadvertently ruin.

Two new clips dropped today, both light on plot detail but heavy on mood:

Shot in Australia and New Zealand, the film just had its premiere at the Venice Film Festival, and the response has been strong. The Light Between Oceans arrives in Australian cinemas on November 3, 2016.
