Another day, another slew of awards for the world-beating Lion, which is nearing a $20m Australian box office haul to boot.

At the British Academy of Film and Television Awards, Dev Patel won Best Supporting Actor, while writer Luke Davies has handily picked up Best Adapted Screenplay. The BAFTAs, of course, are the final major awards before the Oscars, where Lion has six nominations.

Richard Payten and Andrew Mackie of Transmission Films said, “It’s thrilling to see Lion’s continued success, both here and overseas and we couldn’t be more delighted for Dev and Luke. After having them in Sydney for the Australian premiere in December, it is wonderful to see them both receive this prestigious honour from BAFTA.”

Lion is in cinemas now.
