We reckon that 2016/2017 will usher in a new golden age of sci-fi films, what with Arrival, Passengers and now Life leading the charge, this will be remembered as a golden age in the sci-fi genre. Bold prediction, we know, but we consulted with The Movie Psychic, and s/he knows!

Directed by Daniel Espinosa (Child 44, Safe House) and written by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick (Deadpool 1 + 2), Life follows a crew on an international space station who discover extraterrestrial life on Mars. Driven by story rather than a contrivance, it’s refreshing to see a multi-cultural cast in the film, which includes Yanks Jake Gyllenhaal and Ryan Reynolds, plus Swede Rebecca Ferguson (The Girl on the Train), Russian Olga Dihovichnaya (Welcome Home), Brit Ariyon Bakare (New Blood, Tyrant), French Vietnamese Alexandre Nguyen (coming up in Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets) and Japanese Hiroyuki Sanada (The Wolverine, The Last Ship).

Life will be released in May 2017.
