FlickerFest isn’t just about drinks on the beach and amazing short films – there’s an important industry development component built into the esteemed festival in the form of FlickerLab, which is taking place this year on Friday, January 19.
a day long series of panels presented by SAE Creative Media Institute, FlickerLAb covers the entire filmmaking process from conception to release, with insights from such notable guests as Kristina Ceyton (Producer: The Nightingale, The Babadook), Polly Staniford (Producer: Berlin Syndrome), Bridget Callow (Producer: The Butterfly Tree), Gregory Erdstein (Director/Writer: That’s Not Me), Alice Foulcher (Writer: That’s Not Me), Priscilla Cameron (Director/Writer: The Butterfly Tree), Marc Fumie (Writer: In Like Flynn), Danny Lechevre (FanForce), Dov Kornits (Umbrella), and Lucy Hill (eOne), plus representatives from Screen NSW and Screen Australia
Sessions include From Idea to Page (screenwriting), The Director’s Journey (fairly self explanatory), Making it Happen (producing), and Market to Market (marketing and distribution), plus networking drinks in the evening leading neatly into that night’s screenings.
