Sunday night saw the 69th Cannes Film Festival come to a close, with Ken Loach being awarded the Palme d’Or for his latest film, I, Daniel Blake. The award was presented by Mel Gibson.
Xavier Dolan’s controversial It’s Only The End of the World, which divided critics and audiences, won the Grand Prix prize, while Andrea Arnold scored the Jury Prize for American Honey. A split decision saw two recipients of the Best Director: Cristian Mungiu for Graduation and Olivier Assayas for Personal Shopper.
This year’s Jury was comprised of George Miller, Kirsten Dunst, Mads Mikkelsen, Vanessa Paradis and Donald Sutherland.
