On Wednesday evening, Australians in Film announced the nominees for the 2016 Heath Ledger Scholarship. Hosted by actor Brenton Thwaites, the event was attended by Ledger’s mother and sister, Sally Bell and Kate Ledger, as well as Callie Hernandez, Damon Herriman, Matt Levett, Sophie Lowe and others.

The nominees are:

Christian Antidormi (Spartacus: War of the Damned, Home and Away)

Mojean Aria (The Bronx Bull)

Natasha Bassett (Hail, Caesar!)

Chloe Bayliss (Backtrack)

Harley Bonner (Neighbours)

Shareena Clanton (Last Cab to Darwin)

Ashleigh Cummings (Tomorrow When the War Began, Puberty Blues)

Georgia Flood (Puberty Blues)

Sean Keenan (Strangerland)

Uli Latukefu (Alien: Covenant)

Sara West (Peter Allen: Not the Boy Next Door, The Daughter)

Meyne Wyatt (Neighbours, Strangerland, The Sapphires)

Kim Ledger, Heath’s father, noted, “Australian’s in Film have encouraged another wonderful group of applicants for the Heath Ledger Scholarship in 2016. I would like to thank all of them, including Matilda and the team at AiF, and further congratulate those excellent aspirants who have managed to make the cut to a final twelve this year.”

The winner will be announced in Los Angeles on June 1. The judging panel includes actress Toni Collette, actress Abbie Cornish, Paramount Pictures head of casting Joseph Middleton, producer Basil Iwanyk, casting director Sherry Thomas and director Phillip Noyce.
