Shadow of the Tomb Raider is the third, and allegedly final, part of developer Crystal Dynamic’s reboot/prequel trilogy that began with Tomb Raider (2013) and continued with Rise of the Tomb Raider (2015). Thanks for the delightful entities at Bandai Namco, your humble knob twiddler/button pusher was able to play the game for four hours or so and I have many thoughts and feelings about the whole caper.

Without wishing to venture into spoiler territory before the actual review, I will say the tone feels downright grimdark at times, featuring stakes raised higher than previous entries. Also Lara is now a lot more confident with her merciless killing, and faces foes a bit more advanced.

If you find yourself having trouble waiting for the September 14 release date, why not check out this exclusive gameplay footage? Captured on a PS4 Pro by the mighty Grizwords, with me doing the playing, it will help pass the the month-long wait to flog priceless artifacts and kill grumpy fauna.
