Ivan Sen’s Goldstone, the second outing for his Indigenous detective, Jay Swan (Aaron Pedersen), was the big winner at the annual Film Critics Circle of Australia Awards last night, taking home five gongs.

Hot on its heels was The Daughter, the directorial debut of renowned theatre practitioner Simon Stone, which won in three categories.

In a surprising twist, newcomer Odessa Young tied in the Best Actress category for her performance in The Daughter, splitting the award with her Looking for Grace co-star, Radha Mitchell.

BEST SUPPORTING ACTOR – Sam Neill – The Daughter
BEST SUPPORTING ACTRESS – Miranda Otto – The Daughter.
