Ah, the familiar mix of anticipation and trepidation that accompanies the approach of a sequel to a classic. Denis Villeneuve is certainly no slouch, but Ridley Scott’s Blade Runner is one of the greatest films of all time, and certainly the best sci-fi offering the screen has ever seen (you can make an argument for 2001: A Space Odyssey if you like. You’re still wrong, though). The prospect of walking in its shadow must be a daunting one.
Still, we have hope, and this new footage, a mix of BTS palaver and some truly striking images from the film itself, only adds to it. Everyone involved seems to know what a monumental task they’ve set themselves, and even Old Man Ford seems happy to be back in Blade Runner’s dark future.
