Four Victorian film industry leaders have been lauded by Film Victoria for their outstanding achievements in this year’s Screen Leader Awards,
Filmmaker Robert Connolly (Balibo, Paper Planes) received the John Howie Award, while Mitu Bhowmick Lange, director of the popular Indian Film Festival of Melbourne Festival Director was awarded the Jill Robb Award in recognition of outstanding leadership, mentorship and service.
Victorian Director Kate Dennis (The Handmaid’s Tale) was given the Fred Schepisi Award, and screenwriter Kris Mrksa (Glitch, The Slap) won the Jan Sardi Award for his significant achievements as a screenwriter.
Film Victoria CEO Jenni Tosi said of this year’s awards, “These awards are our way of acknowledging four highly talented creatives who have all played a significant role in enhancing Victoria’s reputation as a vibrant creative and cultural hub, where great content is made. We’re incredibly lucky to have such a huge pool of talent working here in Victoria and we look forward to a bumper year in 2018.”
