Disney’s D23 Expo is on right now, and that means – among other things – a bunch of Star Wars-related news, and possibly Phil Lord and Chris Miller being burned in effigy – or in actuality, Wicker Man style.
But before that (entirely fictional) blessed event, we have some good news from Walt Disney Parks and Resorts Chairman Bob Chapek, who gave the gathered throng a good look at the currently-under-construction Star Wars them park attractions that are being installed at Dsiney’s Anaheim Califonria and Orlando, Florida locations.
Chapek unveiled a model of the planned Star Wars Land parks, and it looks like everything you’d want – an immersive, detailed, deep dive into the Star Wars Universe. Check it out:
Golly, but that’s impressive. Look at the size of the thing! Look at the architecture! Heck, look at the Falcon! Even if you’ve grown as cynical about franchise filmmaking as I have, the opportunity to stroll around an Outer Rim spaceport is not to be sneezed at.
Inside the Magic posted a couple of close up looks at the elements on display. Here’s a look at the booth, which is filled with props and costume elements:
And a more detailed look at the model, which gives you an idea of how they’ve combined so many disparate Star Wars locations and elements into one navigable whole:
The Star Wars Land attractions aren’t due to open until 2019. Plenty of time to save up for flights and tickets.
