David Fincher Heads to Netflix With Mindhunter

March 2, 2017
Might as well change our name to "Netflix News" at this point.

There’s so little info out there about this particular project that we don’t even have a still to run – just a pic of Mindhunter director David Fincher up there, lookin’ all moody and wise.

Here’s what we do know, straight from the press release:

“Mindhunter features Jonathan Groff (Looking), Holt McCallanay (Sully), Anna Torv (Fringe) and Hannah Gross (Unless).

“The series is directed by David Fincher (Gone Girl, The Social Network, Zodiac), Asif Kapadia (Amy, Senna), Tobias Lindholm (A War, A Hijacking) and Andrew Douglas (The Amityville Horror, U Want Me 2 Kill Him?).

“Fincher, Joshua Donen (Gone Girl, The Quick and the Dead) Charlize Theron (Girlboss, Hatfields & McCoys) and Cean Chaffin (Gone Girl, Fight Club) are Executive Producers.”

We do know that it’s based, at least in part, on the book Mind Hunter: Inside FBI’s Elite Serial Crime Unit by Mark Olshaker and John E. Douglas. That’s one of the key true crime texts of the last 20-odd years, detailing Douglas’s experiences tracking down serial murderers. In point of fact, Douglas served as the model for the character of Jack Crawford in the Hannibal Lecter franchise – take that however you choose.

We’re sure to get a more revealing trailer before too long – in the meantime, this little slice has certainly piqued our interest.

Mindhunter hits Netflix in October.
