Currently shooting on the Gold Coast and NSW’s Hunter Valley, Occupation: Rainfall’s international sales agent, Film Mode Entertainment, has revealed that more cast have joined the film on the eve of the American Film Market (AFM).
Daniel Gillies (The Vampire Diaries, The Originals) has joined the cast as has ‘Australian treasure’ Lisa McCune, with Brit actor Charles Mesure (The Magicians, Once Upon a Time) returning as a small-town yokel with a good heart. This follows a recent announcement that Ken Jeong, Lawrence Makoara (Marco Polo, Vince Colosimo and Tamala Shelton had been cast, along with returning players Dan Ewing, Temuera Morrison, Stephany Jacobsen, Aaron Jeffery, Zac Garred, Izzy Stephens and Trystan Go.
Released earlier this year, Occupation saw an aggressive alien invasion of a regional Australian city resisted by a small group of ‘ordinary’ folk, with the film ending as the people, with the help of the armed forces, pushing back to reclaim what has been taken.
“We’re building a whole new world with Occupation: Rainfall. What excites me going into this is to jump into the action a few years into an Alien occupation – what’s that world look like? And how can we make it different from past films in the same genre? We’ve gathered a worldclass crew and are adding some fantastic actors to the Occupation family. It’s massive!”
The first film sold around the world, including a cinema release in the US, and was released into cinemas briefly in Australia. The sequel will be distributed locally by Monster Pictures.
