It was a one-horse race at the box office this weekend, with Brad & co delivering Apple TV’s first bonafide hit! Bring on F2! The other big story at the box office is the piss-poor result for Disney’s Elio. Now, you might say that it’s still doing an ok screen average, all things considering… Well, consider this – after a disappointing opening week, it usually means that your film is virtually off screens, playing minimal sessions. Just a simple search uncovered Elio playing up to 9 times per day well into week 2 of release in some cinemas. Yes, school holidays are about to kick in, and parents will take the kids after they’ve seen How to Train Your Dragon, Lilo & Stitch, Karate Kid: Legends and 28 Years Later (our kids), but still, it just proves the uneven playing field and the sway that major studios have over cinema real estate.
