Serial killer thriller Longlegs rode the buzz from the US with an impressive opening for indie Rialto (who didn’t fare so well with Mr Blake at Your Service, which tapped out its audience at the French Film Festival), Stephen Fry and Lena Dunham dramedy Treasure did respectably for a film with so little promotion, and How to Make Millions Before Grandma Dies is on its way to becoming the highest grossing Thai film ever at the Australian box office, whilst Aussie flicks Sting (ouch) and Birdeater (#23 with $18.5k cume on 28 screens) disappointed, the latter proving that all the buzz in all the world doesn’t amount to a hill of beans unless there’s a big US push.
