If 21 Jump Street taught us anything it’s that any ropy old property that’s been rejigged for the big screen may very well yield huge comedic dividends. Now Baywatch is here to teach us that the Jump Street axiom is by no means universal.

Dwayne Johnson is the rock-solid (heh) leader of the Baywatch lifeguard squad contending with budget cuts, Zac Efron is the young hothead brought in to revitalise the team, and Alexandria Daddario is in a swimsuit. Is it creepy that she played the Rock’s teenage daughter last year in San Andreas? Is it creepier that she was 29 at the time?

Look, if you want eye candy you’re gonna get eye candy, and there are a couple of solid jokes in here, but so far it’s a resounding “meh” from us. We may possibly change our minds on May 11, 2017, when Baywatch dives into Australian cinemas.
