Barbra Streisand Sings…With Rey From Star Wars?

June 14, 2016
The new album from Barbra Streisand will feature the legendary music pioneer teaming up with some of Hollywood’s biggest names (and Patrick Wilson) for a collection of duets.

She smashed it as one of the presenters at The Tony Awards last night (how good was the Hamilton-style get-up?), and now Barbra Streisand looks like smashing it again with her new album, Encore: Movie Partners Sing Broadway. Slated for release on August 26, the album will see Babs belting through ten Broadway classics…with a little help from an occasionally unlikely collection of collaborators. Picking from Hollywood’s A-list (and a little from its B-list too), Streisand’s partners in song include noted actors and sometime singers, Alec Baldwin, Antonio Banderas, Jamie Foxx, Anne Hathaway, Hugh Jackman, and Seth MacFarlane. Veering in from left field, however, are slightly less musically known figures like funny lady, Melissa McCarthy, Star Wars’ breakout, Daisy Ridley, and actors, Patrick Wilson and Chris Pine. There’s also a beyond-the-grave “virtual duet” with the late, great Anthony Newley. But we have one question for you, Babs: was Russell Crowe unavailable, or did you blank him?
