Matt Stuertz’s bloody and brilliant  Tonight She Comes scored Best Film at the 10th Annual A Night of Horror Film Festival, it was announced, with the Spanish/Portuguese SF thriller, Gelo, taking home the equivalent prize at sister festival, Fantastic Planet.

It was a hard-fought competition this year, with each festival boasting an excellent roster of films, which was reflected in the spread of awards across productions.

At A Night of Horror, Spanish black comedy The Night of the Virgin won Best Foreign Language Film, plus Best Male Performance and Best Female Performance for Javier Bódalo and Miriam Martin, with Martin sharing her win with Tonight She Comes‘ Jenna McDonland. Best Director went to Scott Schirmer for Plankface.

At Fantastic Planet, Gelo‘s Ivana Banguero (Pan’s Labyrinth) won Best Female Performance, while neo-western Dead Bullet picked up Best Director for Erik Reese and Best Male Performance for John T. Woods.
