From 20 to 24 November 2023, free screenings of student films will be shown at Macquarie University, with additional screenings taking place at the State Library of NSW from 28 November to 1 December 2023.

In partnership with Macquarie’s Creative Documentary Research Centre (CDRC), the BSIFF has received over 1000 submissions from 85 countries including the United States, United Kingdom, Iran, India, France, Brazil and China. BSIFF aims to provide young and emerging storytellers a platform to showcase and celebrate their work.

As part of the free event, attendees can join screenings and audio events ranging from the empowering and challenging, to the funny and off-beat. They will also have access to exclusive workshops and panel discussions with esteemed industry experts and academics, while students will have the chance to engage in networking opportunities, allowing them to advance their careers and join a global community of aspiring audio-visual storytellers and industry professionals.

“I’m absolutely amazed with all the entries we’ve received during our first year,” says Lachlan Salvestro, BSIFF’s Festival Director. “We are going to have a very strong start.”
