“These are challenging times, and what better way is there to escape than with a sweet, charming, fun movie filled with warmth and romance?” asks Dov Kornits, director of film distributor Screen Inc. “We’re all set to provide a little romantic respite with a great collection of movie romances that will be playing in cinemas right across the country.”
The establishment of The Romance Club is an exciting new initiative for Screen Inc., the boldest new local film distributor on the block. “Historically, romance is one of the most popular genres on film, on television, and in print,” says Dov Kornits. “We want to tap into that, providing local audiences with some of the best homegrown examples of the romance genre, and to be able to enjoy these films with like-minded lovers of the genre.”
The Romance Club features a host of fresh, funny, highly relatable charmers. Rhiannon Fish (Home & Away) and newcomer Mitchell Bourke light up A Royal in Paradise, in which a handsome prince must decide whether he wants to follow royal protocol, or follow his heart with a beautiful writer. Romance at the Vineyard stars Susie Abromeit (Jessica Jones) and Tim Ross (Romance on the Menu, Wonderland) in a tale of intrigue and romance set against the lush beauty of Australia’s wine country.
The first player in The Romance Club to make its bow in cinemas will be the bubbly romantic comedy It Only Takes a Night, which marks the exciting directorial debut of Callan Durlik and boasts a charming lead turn from The 100’s Eliza Taylor, who also produces.
Set in London, in one night, four girlfriends will have their hearts broken and mended again. Before the sun rises, they will drink, dance, make love and end up in the hospital…as all life-changing nights tend to go. Also starring Sana’a Shaik,‘Ana Ika, Arielle Carver-O’Neill, and George Pullar, It Only Takes a Night is an effervescent character-based romcom that will make audiences laugh and cry, and is the perfect film to launch The Romance Club.
“My goal was to have the audience finish watching the film and compare their own group of friends to the four female leads. I want people to feel seen,” says writer/director Callan Durlik.
Get ready for the cinematic equivalent of a bunch of flowers and a box of chocolates…it’s time to join The Romance Club.
