There have been various attempts to capitalise on the Indian diaspora here in Australia, with the latest, producer Kanesh Mohana Sundaram and writer/director Ilanthirayan ‘Alan’ Arumugam’s Aiyai: Wrathful Soul (pronouned ‘eye eye’) tapping into Indian dark arts mythology and locating it on Australian soil.
Judging by the trailer, if some of the acting looks ropey, the effects and general look of the film impresses (DOP is Damien Beebe, brother of…; editing by Roberto Merlini; music is by Jason Fernandez).
