The Mad Max saga may be an integral part of the Australian cinema canon, but merchandise has always been a bit thin on the ground, some pretty average Mad Max 2 figures aside.

That’s just changed though, in a roundabout way, with Australian acting legend Steve Bisley launching an official site dedicated to his character in the original 1979 Mad Max film, happy-go-lucky, doomed motorcycle cop Jim Goose.

As Bisley says on the site’s Facebook page, “I am Steve Bisley and I created ‘Goose’ 39 years ago. Beware of cheap imitations! For years I have had people ask me all around the world if there was a website where they could make contact with me. Now there is!

“I started this website because frankly I was sick and tired of all the bullshit websites out there that make all sorts of claims about what they know about the show. On my website I have a Contact The Goose Page. If you have anything in mind that you want to ask me about anything to do with the making of Mad Max 1, then ask away, and I will give you the facts.”

Part of the website is the official Goose Gear shop, which is selling shirts, caps, posters, stickers and the like, with new products promised monthly. Given poor Goose’s ultimate fate, we’d absolutely be down for an official Goose cigarette lighter. Check out the current range here – that MFP badge is pretty sweet.
