In an odd turn of events, eccentric Chinese billionaire and founder of Alibaba Jack Ma will feature alongside an incredible cast of stars for Gong Shou Doa (The Art of Attack and Defence), a short film intended to promote the traditional Chinese martial art of of Tai Chi.

Tony Jaa (Ong-Bak), Donnie Yen (Rogue One), Wu Jing  (Wolf Warriors 2), Jet Li (Once Upon a Time in China), Sammo Hung (Martial Law), Yuen Woo-ping (fight choreographer on The Matrix and Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon) and Chinese-Australian actress Natasha Liu Bordizzo (Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon: Sword of Destiny, The Greatest Showman, Hotel Mumbai) have come together for the project, which celebrates the martial art that Ma has practiced since he was eight.

“Being invited to participate as the only woman in a cast of martial arts legends is an honour,” Bordizzo said. “This film will be iconic as it’s the first time Jack Ma is seen fighting onscreen. These are martial arts masters and to have the opportunity to learn from them is a career highlight.”

Jet Li, who is producing the film, noted, “We all know Jack is a Tai Chi Master himself and it will definitely be an exciting short film to watch.”

Gong Shou Doa will be released on the Chinese site released on November 11 on Youku, a Chinese tube site.
