“Welcome to the frickin’ Guardians Of The Galaxy,” Rocket Racoon translates for Baby Groot to Michael Rooker’s Yondu. “Except he didn’t use frickin.’” It’s one of only about a hundred things that we love about this Super Bowl TV spot for Marvel’s next big screen blaster, Guardians Of The Galaxy: Vol. 2. In a couple of eye-popping technicolour minutes, we get the official nod on new team members, Nebula (Karen Gillan), Mantis (Pom Klementieff), and the aforementioned Yondu (Michael Rooker), as well as grabs from major action sequences, and lots of proof that writer/director, James Gunn, looks set to deliver the same winning mix of humour and sci-fi imagineering that made the first film such a breakout hit. And all to the tune of Fleetwood Mac’s “The Chain”, no less. “That’s awesome,” says Dave Bautista’s Drax at one point…and we couldn’t agree more. See below for your viewing pleasure.
