For the second year running, Revelation Perth Film Festival has teamed up with Fringe World, Perth’ fringe festival, for a celebration of one Mr David Bowie, who fled this plane of existence a little over a year ago now.
Nicolas Roeg’s classic SF film, The Man Who Fell to Earth, will be screening at The Backlot Perth on February 5, 11, and 12. Based on the Walter Tevis novel of the same name, the 1976 film sees Bowie as an alien creature dispatched to Earth to try and obtain water for his drought-stricken homeworld. A merciless and unsettling satire of modern culture, it still retains its power to shock and disturb today.
Accompanying the screenings is a special mini-exhibition of photos of Bowie by the acclaimed Terry O’Neill, with prints available for purchase. Many of these photos have never been exhibited in Perth before, making this a rare treat for Bowie fans.
Finally, prior to the screening on February 4, Menagerie Choir will be performing a medley of Bowie tunes.
If you’re a Bowie fan in Perth, this is a must. For tickets and info, hit up the Fringe World site.
