Pre-production is underway on THE CLEANER, a crime comedy short film set to commence filming in Melbourne’s inner suburbs in late November 2026.
The film stars Scott Major (Heartbreak High, Neighbours), Nicole Chapman (Late Night with the Devil, The Sonny Disposition on Stan) and Seth Kannof (Ice Road: Vengeance).
Written and directed by Maxine Gatt, THE CLEANER follows Amy (Chapman), who returns home to the aftermath of her housemate Ben’s (Kannof) wild party. Faced with a trashed house, she calls for a cleaner but accidentally hires a professional cleaner for the mob (Major), who arrives ready to dispose of a body.
The production reunites writer-director Maxine Gatt, producer Danaë Grieef (Westgate) and cinematographer Richard De Silva, alongside members of their returning crew, following their collaboration on Payback Pie, which recently took home Best Australian Short Film at Monster Fest 2026 following its screening at Melbourne’s Cinema Nova.
With cast and locations locked in across inner Melbourne, production is scheduled to commence in late November 2026.
