Season one of AUSTR-ASIAN, a bold new comedy-romance series that explores modern love, cultural identity, and the chaos of family life will premiere on YouTube in late 2026.
The five-part series delivers a fresh, funny, and deeply relatable perspective on what it means to belong in a multicultural world.
Created, written, and produced by Shuang Hu, Sian Fleming, and Joel Stephen Fleming and co-directed by Sian and Joel (13th Street).
Join Mei (Shuang Hu) who attempts to integrate her new American boyfriend, Simon, into her quirky “Austr-Asian” family as they embrace the challenge of impending parenthood.
AUSTR-ASIAN has already demonstrated strong audience appeal, with its pilot episode, supported through Screen Queenland’s Online Production Grant initiative, attracting over 170,000 views on YouTube—an early indicator of the series’ resonance with audiences seeking diverse, character-driven storytelling.
The entire first season will be released on @theonshu YouTube channel on a week-to-week basis to her existing audience base of over 8 million subscribers.
