Rising Australian actress Kloud Milas is one to watch, with an impressive five 2026 AACTA considerations, which she hopes will set a precedent to change the trajectory for Australian Independent Films. With roles in three contending feature films, Box:Metaphor, Cuckoo’s Den, and Carmen & Bolude, Kloud Milas is becoming a force to watch within the next generation of Australian talent.
Kloud Milas is also a 2026 AACTA Best Supporting Actress in Film contender for both Box:Metaphor and Cuckoo’s Den, proving she is a real underdog amongst the considerations. Originally from Western Sydney, Kloud, with her grit, determination, and stamina, is continuing to carve out her place within the Australian Entertainment Industry with the hope for change.
“For me personally, while recognition is an honour it is not about the potential accolades, it is about setting precedent for those who work on independent budgeted projects and for the next generation of artists to achieve the same and hopefully more,” says Milas.
Kloud urges that more production companies should take chances on young Australian talent, something the creators of Box:Metaphor [Studio Magnetica] did by trusting Kloud to come on board to act and also Assistant Direct the feature-length film. Not only is Box:Metaphor a contender for 2026 AACTA Best Feature Film, but Kloud Milas is also a contender for a 2026 AACTA for Best Supporting Actress in Film for her role of Out.
The gritty, experimental, and quirky by nature feature film contender Cuckoo’s Den was shot in approximately one to two weeks by MagicMakersGroup. This highlights that ambition and belief may help contribute to growing the Australian content catalogue, especially with the recent push, and need for more Australian content on streaming services.
“Looking at Australian film history, didn’t we make the first ever documented feature film? We are pioneering, so it’s a real shame that the majority of us struggle, whether we like to admit it or not, and quite frankly, it shouldn’t be like that. I am looking for change for the hope that we can all work together for a more sustainable industry and produce quality content.”
She is also featured and is quite recognisable in Carmen & Bolude, which is also a contending Best Feature Film for a 2026 AACTA. Kloud Milas believes that if any of the feature films she’s worked on receive nominations or win, especially in the ‘mainstream’ categories, this would mark a true underdog triumph for independent Australian cinema and the success story that the Australian entertainment industry didn’t think it needed.
AACTA voting opens 22nd October until 5th November (5 pm AEDT).
