Bus Stop Films invites film lovers, community champions and change-makers to celebrate inclusive storytelling at The Best of the Bus 2025, a night of short films made by emerging filmmakers who are deaf, disabled or neurodivergent. The event will take place on 27th May at Chauvel Cinemas, Paddington, proudly hosted by actor and comedian Elle Dawe.

This annual fundraiser highlights the standout work created through Bus Stop’s Accessible Filmmaking Program, a pioneering initiative that provides people with disability access to a film school experience, creativity and social connections, as well as meaningful industry opportunities.

Audiences will experience a dynamic lineup of short films that are moving, funny, bold, and original, all crafted by Bus Stop participants working in inclusive production environments, all while raising funds for the non-profit social enterprise.

“The Best of the Bus is a celebration of community, creativity and authentic storytelling. It also raises vital funds which helps us to continue to change lives and minds through film while giving thanks to those who champion our community,” says Tracey Corbin-Matchett OAM, CEO of Bus Stop Films.

On the night, we’ll present the Golden Bus Awards recognising the key creatives of our 2024 films and honour long term supporters of our work and impact, Panavision, Sherry Hogan Foundation and the Snow Foundation, whose support has been invaluable to our growth, success and impact, with an Inclusive Industry Award.

Reflecting on their awards, The Sherry Hogan Foundation said “We are proud to be a longtime supporter of the impactful work of Bus Stop Films in enhancing the lives of people with disability through creativity and employment in the screen industry. We are honoured to reflect on our support through their Inclusive Industry Award”

Paul Jackson, Managing Director at Panavision Asia stated, “It has been incredible to watch Bus Stop Films grow nationally and internationally over the years, bringing inclusive filmmaking to thousands. Panavision is very proud to support this great organisation and looks forward to continuing our relationship for many years to come.”

While Georgina Byron AM, Chief Executive Officer, Snow Foundation said “We are proud to have supported Bus Stop Films for the past 10 years, bringing the filmmaking program to Canberra in the early days and more recently supporting the development of the employment program. It’s wonderful to see inclusion in action, it changes not only the life of the individual, but society as a whole.”
