From director Jaume Collet-Serra (Orphan, Non-Stop) comes this tight little thriller, which is essentially a two-hander between Blake Lively’s surfing med student and a very hungry fish. It’s a simple concept – Lively is only a couple hundred meters from the shore on a little outcrop of rock, but there’s a Great White in the water who doesn’t seem inclined to move on any time soon. Of course, sharks don’t really behave like that, but why let something as frivolous as realism get in the way of a gory good time?
The Shallows opens in Australia later this year.
