Ethan Hawke plays lyricist Lorenz Hart, who spends a sober night at Sardi’s not long before his death, regaling a bartender played by (adopted Australian) Bobby Cannavale and admiring an actress played by Margaret Qualley, on the opening night of his ex-collaborator Richard Rodgers’ (played by Andrew Scott) Oklahoma. Richard Linklater directs from a screenplay by Robert Kaplow (Me and Orson Welles). They don’t make ’em like they used to.
