So, here’s something novel…
The Babadook famously under-performed in Australian cinemas upon release, before being embraced by France (where else?!) and the rest of the world, where it became a cult hit. In Australia, it sold bucket loads of DVDs (remember those) and eventually found its audience. Now, the US is re-releasing Jennifer Kent’s debut feature film on its 10-year anniversary, but no word of an Australian re-release, despite the continued success of repertory screenings. We’d certainly pay to see a screening, especially if (grown up) Noah Wiseman turned up!
