As part of the initiative, Arclight Films will option up to three projects from the process, all of which will be intended for theatrical distribution and the international marketplace. The successful applicants will be receiving deals to progress through the development process, with funding matched by Arclight Films and the SAFC. Shortlisted applicants (working in the thriller, sci-fi, or action realms) will participate in a three-day development workshop, including attendance at an online master class.

“South Australia has a wealth of creative talent, as is evidenced by the slate of internationally recognised films and filmmakers over the past few years,” said Arclight Films Chief Creative Officer, Mike Gabrawy.  “I’m excited to embark on this thrilling, creative journey with The South Australian Film Corporation.”

The initiative continues a boom period for Arclight Films, whose recent Australian feature films include Hotel Mumbai, starring Armie Hammer and Dev Patel; Greg’s Mclean’s Jungle starring Daniel Radcliffe; Ivan Sen’s Goldstone starring Aaron Pedersen; A Few Less Men starring Xavier Samuel and Kris Marshall; Ben Elton’s Three Summers; the festival darling, Bad Girl; and the top-tier genre flicks, Wolf Creek 2 and Predestination.

So, if you’ve got a film idea featuring vampires, cops on the edge, or a time machine, it might be time for you to, ahem, step into the spotlight.
