God bless Kickstarter for its ability to bring nigh-unthinkable tie-in products into the hands of cashed-up fanboys everywhere. Just this month, we’ve seen the launch of an Evil Dead 2 board game. Now, from Silly Kid Games, comes The Warriors: Turf War, based on the classic 1979 actioner directed by Walter Hill.
Yes, if you’ve ever fancied yourself as a chain-wielding warlord on the mean streets of ’70s NYC, but had your ambitions curbed by a phenotype more suited to light paperwork than rumbling in the urban jungle, now you can take command of a crew of hardened thugs in the form of some beautifully painted miniatures. Currently four gangs are on offer – The Warriors, The Rogues, The Lizzies, the Furies (yay!) – with two more on the cards if the campaign hits its stretch goals (Turbbull ACs FTW). The campaign describes the game as “…an aggressive strategy board game licensed by Paramount and based on the cult classic film The Warriors. Assume control of one of the film’s iconic gangs and immerse yourself in the action as you fight to take control of the city’s boroughs and add them to your growing turf. Unpredictable events and a growing police presence complicate even the best-laid plans, compelling truces between bitter rivals or forcing gangs to flee in the face of insurmountable odds.”
Sounds pretty good to us. Right now it’s sitting on $27K/$100K with 25 days to go, so shoot on over to the Kickstarter page to get in on the action.
